NURSERY SCHOOL

The Early Years is the Foundation of a child’s education which caters for ages 0 to 5 years.

Every child is given the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential.

Learning happens through play blended with Early Years Foundation Framework (EYFS) and Montessori Curriculum.

Creche- 3 months to 11 months

Safety is a top priority for our babies, all the rooms are equipped with cameras and all points of entry require key access. Our staff are highly trained so that the safety of your child comes first at all times.

Our environment is cosy with spacious rooms to help the children feel very secure moving around as they develop fine and gross motor skills.

Toys and books have dedicated places in the room.

Learning programmes like rhymes, music, readaloud, sensory play, dance and movements are part of the daily curriculum to refine your child’s language skills, social and emotional skills, flexibility, and coordination.

The children are placed according to their ages to ensure they thrive to achieve their full potential.

Preparatory Class : Age 1+

Nursery One: Age 2+

Nursery Two;Age 3+

Reception: Age 4+

The Curriculum is divided into the following 9 learning Areas.

Literacy:

This affords the children the opportunity to learn reading skills which consist of two dimensions: language comprehension and word reading. Language comprehension (necessary for both reading and writing) starts from birth.

Here the children are exposed to Jolly Phonics sounds which makes reading for them easy at a very early age. The aim is to ensure our children read at the age of 3.

Numeracy

Fun and engaging activities based on numbers, measurements, shapes, colours, and space form the basis of the children’s Numeracy development. Everyday activities like sand, water, play dough, counting rhymes and many more teach the children Numeracy concepts and vocabulary.

Personal Social and Emotional Development:

The children are encouraged to become independent. They learn good habits like taking turns to speak, how to actively listen, use of magic words, respect other people, dress themselves up after using the bathroom, share and help tidy up. Good manners are encouraged at all times. Your child is not only practising the behaviour that will benefit them later in life, they also share in the simple joys of making lasting friendships and treating others with kindness and respect.

Communication and Language

Listening and reading skills are essential for the children’s development at an early age. A wide range of reading resources are offered to the children to encourage early reading skills.

Understanding the World

This area gives the children the opportunity to learn about their environment and explore the world around them. They learn about the weather, season of the world, traditional festivals, family values, animal and plant life.

Physical Development

Activities that encourage children the development of gross and fine motor skills are taught incorporating Sensorial and Practical Life activities like beading, walking on the line, Knobbed Cylinder, Play dough, construction toys and lots more. The playground, playhouse and outdoor space is made available for them.

Expressive Arts and Design

This area covers all forms of art and craftwork in which various ranges of materials and media are explored. It comprises role-play, drama, dance, rhymes and music.

Outdoor Play and Learning(OPAL)

Outdoor Play is a part of your child’s everyday activities. It enhances brain structure, promotes exercise, encourages social behaviour and builds resilience.

Extra-Curricular Activities:

  • Body Movement
  • Sticky Fingers
  • Lego
  •  Busy Bees

Thematic Learning

Nursery children from the age of 0 to 5 years learn best through thematic teaching. The themes for each term are infused into all the areas of learning. The children also have assembly presentations every Friday on the theme for the term which also boosts their confidence and self-esteem, and encourages public speaking.
