To build a great institution requires vision, but to sustain it requires a legacy grounded in purpose, character, and love. On our annual Founder’s Day, the entire Bloombreed Schools community across both our Day and Boarding campuses came together in a moving, joyful celebration to honor the life, vision, and enduring impact of our visionary founder, the late Mrs. Olufunke Sunmonu.
From heartfelt theatrical performances to shared stories and musical tributes, the day served as a powerful reminder of the remarkable woman whose passion for educational excellence continues to guide everything we do today.
Day Campus Highlights: Drama, History, and Student Engagement
The atmosphere at the Day Campus was filled with dynamic energy as students of all ages paid homage to the school’s roots through creative expressions.
A standout moment of the morning was a captivating drama presentation led by scholar Praise E. With deep poise and emotion, Praise brought the memory, poise, and spirit of the late Mrs. Olufunke Sunmonu to life on stage, reminding staff and students alike of the vision that birthed Bloombreed Schools.
Meanwhile, our Primary school learners took center stage in the annual Founder’s Day Challenge. Through interactive quizzes, storytelling sessions, and team activities, our youngest scholars explored the history of our school and learned valuable lessons about the core values that our founder championed.
“It was inspiring to see our youngest students engage so thoughtfully with our history. Remembering where we came from helps our children understand the values they carry forward every single day.”
Boarding Campus Reflections: Shared Memories and Musical Tributes
At the Boarding Campus, the community gathered for a deeply touching service of tribute and celebration. The evening brought together long-standing staff members, educators, and boarders to reflect on the personal impact Mrs. Sunmonu had on their lives and careers.
Staff members who worked alongside her took the audience down memory lane, reliving cherished moments of her pragmatic, charismatic, and compassionate leadership. They shared stories of her insistence on high standards, her motherly care for every child, and her unwavering belief in the potential of every learner who walked through our gates.
The reflections were beautifully complemented by our students, who delivered uplifting musical performances, choral pieces, and instrumentals dedicated to her legacy.
Celebrating Virtues, Milestones, and Community
The Founder’s Day commemoration went beyond looking back, it was also a celebration of the present and future. Key moments across the campuses included:
The Commemorative Cake-Cutting: A beloved tradition bringing together school leadership, staff representatives, and student leaders to symbolize unity and continued growth.
Virtue & Character Awards: Special recognition was given to outstanding students who actively embody the virtues that Mrs. Sunmonu held dear, integrity, resilience, academic drive, and service to others.
Historical Highlights: An interactive showcase detailing the journey of Bloombreed Schools from its founding days to its current standing as a leading educational institution.
A Legacy That Lives On
Though the late Mrs. Olufunke Sunmonu is no longer with us in person, her voice, vision, and spirit echo in every classroom, every morning assembly, and every achievement of our learners.
By grounding our students in strong moral values and equipping them to lead on international stages, Bloombreed Schools continues to carry her torch forward. Founder’s Day was not just a tribute to a remarkable woman, but a collective promise to keep her dream alive for generations to come.
